We all know that zombie-themed games amount to absolute gore, jump shocks, and bloodshed, so these two games are not for the faint-hearted. The two games give “zombie infestation” a new meaning and a sense of thrill through treacherous journeys where your survival is critical. This is precisely what AAA game developer Techland had in mind in the masterful creation of the Dead Island and Dying Light series. Navigating through haunting landscapes and derelict environments keeps you constantly on the edge of your seat, never knowing when danger will strike or what unspeakable horrors lurk around the next corner. But from a playability standpoint, I think DL is superior. For fans of the genre, survival horror games are like a dark, eerie carnival ride that takes you on a twisted journey through the depths of fear and desperation. My vote goes for DL as my favorite but I do miss some things from the older games as well. Something to keep you invested in playing instead of just farming police vans once you beat the game and finish everything. The game desperately needs daily quests and could take a few notes from the makes of State of Decay with random rescues and tracking down missing npc`s more. DL seems to do what ritpide did and make everything more dense in terms of activites but even those dry up quickly. I thought the jungle was an awsome place but there wasn`t a single reason to explore it besides doing the story because it was empty save for a few spots. I am hoping they addon to the game to make it larger instead of doing what they did with riptide, which was supposed to be an expansion pack for DI instead of a standalone.ĭI even though it had more maps really lacked a reason to explore them. Something else I miss from DI was the driving but in the editors clip they showed a dune buggy and a somewhat different landscape. I heard somewhere that TL planned on doing more with guns in a future patch, so my hopes are up for that. The guns feel useless on hard mode and I like gunplay alot so it dissapoints me that they are so weak and such a small variety. I do miss the firearms power we had DI and riptide though. DL has spoiled me though with the movement freedom it has.
